| Among The Disabled |
|
According to a recent National Center for Health Statistics report, nearly 30% of the non-institutionalized adult U.S. population has some disability that affects daily activity.
The report goes on to point out that more than 20% of the population reports difficulties walking, bending, reaching overhead, or using their fingers in a grasping motion. While you might think that these numbers mostly involve the elderly, you may be further surprised to learn that about two-thirds of the disabled Americans are under the age of 65. Most of the disability in this age group is likely related to problems associated with obesity. If you suffer from a physical disability that hampers your ability to carry out daily activities, contact a physical therapist.
